PUNK IN LONDON Various Artists (1992, Video Music Inc., $19.95) Does punk live? Yes, under a number of assumed names, including grunge. This terrific documentary, shot in 1977, explores the roots of the movement. Many of the major British groups, like the Clash, the Jam, and X-Ray Spex, bash about in live footage. And there are some choice interviews that get right at the political and musical frustrations that gave birth to the do-it-yourself phenomenon, then mostly got forgotten in the frenzy. A -Ron Givens
