Second-tier stars, a silly ''erotic thriller'' premise, so-so box office performance all the makings of a video smash! No wonder 1992's Consenting Adults has jumped from relative theatrical obscurity to the upper regions of the rentals chart. Starring Kevin Kline and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Alan J. Pakula's spouse-swapping picture, which grossed $21.6 million, could have been subtitled Wait for the Tape. Another of the week's newcomers, Passenger 57 also makes a strong showing (at No. 8)-its presence undoubtedly boosted by ads for star Wesley Snipes' new theatrical vehicle, Boiling Point.
