THE DINOSAURS (1992, PBS, 4 tapes, $59.95 for boxed set, $14.95 each) Long before Barney and Jurassic Park, dinosaurs were really big in more ways than one. This PBS series provides a colorful overview of past and recent dinosaur discoveries; through various animation techniques we see science's latest theories of how the lizards really looked. And yet, as impressive as many of these renderings are, they're no match for the rebuilt skeleton of a 70-foot Apatosaurus-a towering monument to nature's most awesome era. A- -MS
