As the former guitarist for John Hiatt, Sonny Landreth administered the salve and sting to Hiatt's songs of bittersweetness. Now on his own, he celebrates his Louisiana roots with deep-dish renditions of blues, funk, and Cajun/zydeco, putting the gumbo to Sonny Boy Williamson, the harmonica to Clifton Chenier, and the voodoo to everything else on Down in Louisiana.
