Beausoleil, led by fiddler Doucet, may be America's best Cajun band, but that doesn't mean they're boring traditionalists. As heard on Bayou Deluxe: The Best of Michael Doucet & Beausoleil, they're not afraid to spice up French-sung waltzes and two-steps with the occasional electric guitar or big beat, and yet they retain Cajun music's elegance. An ideal intro not just to one fine band but to the music itself.
