Dolly Parton The RCA Years 1967-1986 Blessed with the face of an angel and the determination of a kamikaze pilot, Dolly Parton is a mountain miracle, a world-class poet in a feed-sack dress (at least in the beginning). This collection traces her musical evolution from backwoods country hopeful to glitzy pop superstar and actress, even as it glosses over her long association with Porter Wagoner. Most of the songs that forged her reputation as a songwriter are here (''Coat of Many Colors,'' ''I Will Always Love You''), as are her most underrated (''Down from Dover,'' ''Appalachian Memories''). But the set can't escape revealing her decline from an impassioned song crafter to a purveyor of ear candy (''Baby I'm Burnin''') in her quest for the Kenny Rogers audience. A- -Alanna Nash
