KNIGHT MOVES Christopher Lambert, Diane Lane (1993, Republic, R, $92.98) A serial killer strikes every night during a chess championship, draining the blood from young women. Lambert plays the grand master who's the prime suspect, and Lane is the psychologist who's hot for him. The movie is neatly plotted and keeps you watching, but the monumentally uninteresting characters are just pawns. C -LO'T
