THE COMPLETE FILMS OF BUSTER KEATON Jim Kline (Citadel Press, $16.95) As detail-conscious as Buster Keaton's meticulous screen direction, this obsessive filmography describes every Keaton project from the silent masterstrokes of his youthful prime to the industrial-film pap of his wasted later years. This is the book's failing, of course: Light on perspective, heavy on unenlightening plot description, it fails to give due shape to a career whose tragic contours are a source of poignant horror.
