Jennifer 8 Andy Garcia, Uma Thurman (1992, Paramount, R, $95.95) Hotshot British director Bruce Robinson (Withnail & I) has cobbled together a few ice- cold movie conventions into a lukewarm thriller. There's the burnt-out cop (Garcia) after a serial killer. There's the blind woman (Thurman) in jeopardy. There's the cop's older partner (Lance Henriksen) whose name should be Lunchmeat. There's also John Malkovich, happily hamming it up as a fed with a head cold, and a snowy Northern California setting instead of the usual city streets. Unfortunately, even if Robinson's dark visions look murkier on a TV screen, the killer's still far too easy to see. C+ -Ty Burr
