Say you've been in...France...for 15 years, and your idea of hip comedy is Dan Aykroyd in an old Saturday Night Live skit. How can Paramount attract not only you, but your kids who know better to its summer comedy Coneheads?
The current Coneheads preview tries to appeal simultaneously to two generations of SNL fans: It mixes Beldar (Dan Aykroyd) and Prymaat (Jane Curtin) with recent troupers Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, and David Spade in funny skits that play like an SNL episode on fast-forward. Classic conespeak combines with elaborate gags that weren't possible on the TV show (daughter Connie eats a sub sandwich in three bites). Come July 23, we'll know if these new Remulakian antics are, as Beldar might say, acceptable.
