THE EFFICIENCY EXPERT Anthony Hopkins, Bruno Lawrence (1992, Paramount, PG, $89.95) Hopkins impeccably underplays the title character, a kind of corporate consultant who can recommend mass layoffs without blinking an eye. Things change when he meets a moccasin factory full of quaint and quirky workers who show him how to loosen up, salvage his marriage, and save his soul. This Australian comedy is so low-key it murmurs, and that's its charm. The movie subtly grows on you-it's like Local Hero without the seaside scenery. B -Michael Sauter
