The Hunting Club J.G. Sandom (Doubleday, $18.50) Murder may be deadly, but that doesn't make it particularly interesting, as proved by this story about five friends, a bachelor party, and a prostitute who bites the dust before the night is through. J.G. Sandom's writing about men's murderous instincts is often poetic, and the plot twists in all the right places, but the novel never feels meatier than a script treatment. (In fact, Warner Bros. has recently bought the film rights). Still, The Hunting Club is a pleasantly distracting- if all too brief-summer read. B
