He's Bad
Thank you so much for the great cover story on John Malkovich (#182, Aug. 6), the very best of the bad guys. His amazing acting ability in In the Line of Fire made me wonder if this was the same
man who had been amazingly brilliant in Of Mice and Men. Not only is
he capable of such 180-degree shifts of acting, but he is also very
sexy. Keep up the good work, EW!

Gracias for ''The Touch of Evil,'' about John Malkovich. It's about
time this fantastic actor's talent is spotlighted. I think his evil
touch can be attributed to his stunning likeness to Dr. Seuss'
Grinch: that turned-up smile is more Grinch than Dali. John was the
star of In the Line of Fire. Eastwood was good, but Malkovich was
exceptional. I say, Academy, pencil in Malkovich!

Hooked On Geezers
As a 19-year-old ''fresh babe,'' I take offense to your sexist
''Babes & Geezers'' (News & Notes). My favorite actors Sean Connery,
Tom Skerritt, Jack Nicholson, Dean Stockwell, Ed Harris, etc. would
all be considered ''wrinkled geezers'' by Ms. Grisolia. Let me just say
that I'd be the May to one of their Decembers before I'd go watch
so-called sex symbol Tom Cruise stumble through The Firm again!

Manson Murders
You don't miss anything, do you? I thought I would have to wait at
least until next summer before the press remembered the Manson
murders. I couldn't believe it when I saw that Encore recognized the
anniversary of the most significant and horrifying murders in
American history. Roman Polanski will always be my favorite
director, and I think Sharon Tate was the most beautiful woman who
ever lived. Thank you for staying ahead of everyone else.

Can-Tankerous
I'm sure there must be a reason for the ''Do not flush toilet'' sign
in the MTV Beach House, but EW has my sincerest thanks for not
telling us what it is.

Bone of Contention
Re: Jean A. Pudlo's letter, correcting you for wrongly identifying
a metatarsal bone of the human hand [#179, July 16]. May I clarify
once and for all? The metacarpal is present in the hand and the
metatarsal is in the foot.

Classic Humor
In TV's Classic 101 shows (#181, July 30), you say, ''Sophocles'
Antigone. DaVinci's Mona Lisa. Mozart's Jupiter Symphony. Sherwood
Schwartz's Gilligan's Island. All great works of art have one thing
in common: They endure.'' Thanks for putting me in such illustrious
company. But about the billing...
