Jane Child Here Not There (Warner Bros.) What do you get when you cross Teena Marie and Nina Hagen? Jane Child, an artist who thinks nothing of spiking an album of progressive dance-floor jams with liberal doses of heavy-metal guitar, executing a raga-and-drone hymn, or tossing in a straight-up grunge- rock song. All very intriguing, but in the age of the pigeonhole, her ambitions are almost sure to prove a commercial liability. B -TS
