Stephanie Davis Stephanie Davis (Asylum) Several of Garth Brooks' best songs (''We Shall Be Free,'' ''The Gift,'' ''Learning to Live Again'') were written or cowritten by Stephanie Davis. Yet on her solo debut, a collection of jazz-pop ditties, Western swing, and wistful looking-for-love ballads, Davis displays little of the insight and grit that marked the Brooks songs. As for her little-girl voice, imagine Nanci Griffith without the coy naivete. B
