While writing under the pseudonym George Stark, Thad Beaumont (Timothy Hutton) unconsciously wills the Mr. Hyde-like Stark into being. But when Hutton decides to stop using the pseudonym, the bad good ol' boy goes on a rampage of retribution. Director George Romero turns Stephen King's mentally meager trash into junky fun, with plenty of Play-Doh dread and a few genuine scares. Best of all, the normally deadly dull Hutton slicks back his hair as the razor- wielding George and has a high ol' time of it.
