TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
What It's About: A stop-motion vision of the holidays gone haywire as the ghouls of Halloweentown take over Christmastown.
Will Kids Want to Watch It? For a while. Even the most jaded MTV-ers will be awestruck by the visual tricks and treats, but ultimately there are no characters worth rooting for, and kids will find the Broadway-style score a yawn.
MPAA: PG.
Sex/Nudity: None.
Drugs/Alcohol: None.
Violence/Scariness: Santa Claus is kidnapped; Oogie Boogie tries to kill the Pumpkin King with guns and knives. Many of the images — skeletons, monsters under the bed, dolls that are beheaded — are too intense for very young children.
Profanities: None.
Mature Themes: Accept yourself for what you are.
Appropriate Ages: 8 and up.
