On the Road (1993)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Lead Performance: Lee Roy Parnell; Genre: Country

With a tape loop of Delbert McClinton constantly playing in his head, Texas blues-rocker Parnell is the first grease-and-grits performer to make it on Hot Country radio. The miracle is that he does it without watering down the roadhouse sound, even if he mixes it up with soulful mainstream ballads. On the Road is loose, lean, and honkin'. B+
