Mudhoney's albums have always been uneven affairs, veering erratically between the monumental and the mundane. Unfortunately, most of this seven-track EP falls into the latter category. Still, Five Dollar Bob's Mock Cooter Stew's not a total loss. On songs like the brooding "In the Blood" and the country-tinged "Between Me & You Kid" singer Mark Arm and his fellow garage boys manage to evoke the soul-sick yearning and sardonic misanthropy that characterize their best work. B-
