Even more hush-hush than news of a Romulan cloaking device are the details of Star Trek: Voyager, Paramount's third Star Trek TV spin-off. Next Generation execs Rick Berman, Michael Piller, and Jeri Taylor have been secretly hashing out concepts for the new series-which will be the cornerstone of Paramount's planned fifth network, due in January 1995. Speculation ranges from its being a show created for Deep Space Nine's morphing Odo (Rene Auberjonois) to its , revolving around a female starship commander. But all Paramount will let slip is that Voyager will be set on another star-ship in the 24th century, at about the same time as Next Generation. Not even a Vulcan mind probe will get the company to reveal more. The silent treatment isn't bothering TV stations currently airing Next Generation, which is scheduled to warp off the air and into a movie next year. Says Walter DeHaven, general manager of Paramount-owned KTXA in Dallas-Fort Worth,''The franchise of Star Trek has such a track record that even sight unseen it's worth its weight in gold.'' -Frank Spotnitz and Benjamin Svetkey
