Lead Performance: Turner Nichols; Genre: Country/Bluegrass

Zack Turner and Tim Nichols might seem like Brooks & Dunn clones, since labels always scurry to duplicate proven acts. But their mix of traditional Haggardesque tunes and modern dance-floor drive on Turner Nichols is less contrived, with more emphasis on soulful lyrics and real emotional connections. Best: the Hal Ketchum-like ''Moonlight Drive-In,'' a bit of '50s nostalgia, wrapped around a story of first love and loss. B
