Bodies, Rest & Motion (1993)

Details Movie Rated: R; Genres: Drama, Romance; With: Bridget Fonda and Eric Stoltz; Distributor: Fine Line Features

Aping sex, lies, and videotape right down to the title, Bodies, Rest & Motion gives us another bunch of anomic twentysomethings trying to figure out whom to sleep with and what to do with their lives. A top-flight cast -- which also features Phoebe Cates and Tim Roth as the de rigueur Rat With Women -- can't do a thing with the awful script, and while director Michael Steinberg has an eye for the unusual shot, those pesky characters keep getting in his way. Michael Convertino's oddball score is another plus -- but there are just too many minuses here. Maybe you were this boring when you were this age, but I bet you didn't make a movie about it. B-
