Details Lead Performance: Guided By Voices

Ohio's Guided By Voices has been laboring in obscurity since the mid-' 80s, recording six amazing albums that heretofore have been heard mostly by their friends and families. Vampire on Titus should change all that. It's a low-fi tour de force, featuring songs and fragments of such casual brilliance (R.E.M. and Pavement are the easiest stylistic reference points) that you know the majors will soon come sniffing. A+
