It's hard to imagine a less likely couple than Mariah Carey and Ice Cube (our imaginations run amok at the possibilities), yet both the New York thrush and the L.A. rapper are the recipients of good chart news this week. After 15 weeks, Carey's Music Box finally claws its way to the top, becoming her first No. 1 album since her 1990 debut. Cube's Lethal Injection, meanwhile, debuts on the pop chart at No. 5 and is already No. 1 on the R&B chart. And speaking of headliners: In the somewhat cheerier world of Christmas music, Harry Connick Jr.'s first yuletide album overtakes similar efforts by Vince Gill and Boyz II Men.
