Like an abbreviated Asian 1900, the Berlin Film Festival winner Red Sorghum, documents life at a Chinese winery until its violent takeover by Japanese troops. This letterboxed edition preserves the epic's wide-screen grandeur, but its unhurried pace might discourage less-than-adventurous viewers. B
