Return to the Blue Lagoon (1992)

EW's GRADE
D

Details Movie Rated: PG-13; Genres: Drama, Romance; With: Milla Jovovich and Brian Krause; Distributor: Columbia Tri-Star Home Video

Take away the brief nudity and this square, vapid sequel to 1980's The Blue Lagoon wouldn't look out of place in the '50s, with Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue subbing for the equally talented Brian Krause and Milla Jovovich (Kuffs). Krause plays the son of the original movie's Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins; how he comes to end up on the same deserted island with a new babe is too much of a headache to explain. The twosome's idyllic discovery of ''the birds and the iguanas'' is broken up by a crew of sailors, here representing the Evils of Civilization. Krause and Jovovich then have to decide whether or not to be rescued and wear underwear for the rest of their lives. Lagoon's message — aimed straight at the spoiled shopping mall generation — is that teen nookie is fine if the grown-ups don't mess it up with guilt — and it's even better if Dad lends you the keys to the condo in Hawaii.
