The insistence that the 16-year-old autistic boy who produced these drawings of Moscow, Leningrad, Venice, and Amsterdam is a great artist detracts somehow from the appeal of his work. Looked at without that evaluation the pictures in Floating Cities provide a deeply interesting view of how the outside world appears to someone enclosed in a private universe. A
