Led by a Friday telecast that featured American skater Kristi Yamaguchi's gold medal performance, the wall-to-wall Winter Olympics catapulted CBS to a huge weekly win that marked the network's eighth straight week on top-its longest winning streak in 10 years. Six of the week's Olympics telecasts reached the top 20, despite competition that ranged from ABC's powerhouse Tuesday comedies to Fox's The Simpsons, which finished 12th, scoring its biggest victory ever over a first-run Cosby Show (which came in 29th). But by Sunday, Feb. 23, viewers were feeling Albertville burnout. ABC's network premiere of Rain Man and NBC's Valerie Bertinelli movie What She Doesn't Know got most of the attention, finishing 11th and 13th respectively, while CBS' telecast of the closing ceremonies fell to a relatively wan 27th.
