They broke out the party hats at Fox last week: The network finally broadcast an original movie that didn't sink to the bottom of the Nielsens. Doing Time on Maple Drive, which aired March 16, pulled in 13.2 million viewers, the most ever for a Fox film, placing it a respectable 63rd in the ratings. The drama about a dysfunctional family did best with female viewers (they ranked it 37th). It was a good week for CBS' Northern Exposure as well: The Monday-night show had a record 25.4 million viewers, finishing 12th for the week. ABC's Dinosaurs was looking anything but extinct in its new Friday-night time slot- it came in 18th, its best showing all season. Over at NBC, the good news was Seinfeld, which wound up in 23rd place, with 21.3 million viewers. The network's frightfest Nightmare Cafe was 80th. Its ratings were scarier than its plots.
