Late-night partners Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon have made a combined total of seven trips to the altar. Which explains why, after discussing 12 current prime-time series with end-of-the-season weddings and how much audiences like them, Carson concluded, ''That's why we've lasted for 30 years. When the ratings go down, one of us gets married.''
