For the handful of series still teetering between renewal and cancellation, every ratings point counts- and this week most of those shows had cause for optimism. The season finale of ABC's Homefront finished an impressive 35th, winning its time period against Quantum Leap and CBS' 48 Hours for the first time since moving to Wednesdays. A new episode of ABC's Civil Wars also did well, placing 43rd. Among 18- to 49-year-old women, both shows reached the top 20. Brooklyn Bridge bega a two-week audition for a slot in CBS' hit Monday lineup with mixed results; its 36th place finish was one of its best scores this season, but still below par for Mondays. And ABC's Room for Two makes for a while; in its new Wednesday time slot, unprotected by Roseanne, the Linda Lavin sitcom fell to 58th. VIEWERS* TOP TEN LAST WEEK
