What do viewers want? The Nielsen ratings are never more puzzling than in the off-season, when patterns are almost impossible to discern. Why, for instance, have reruns of Roseanne topped the charts for the last three weeks, while Murphy Brown, despite a month of headline-making publicity, has dropped out of the top 10? Why, on June 14, did viewers flock to one old Lindsay Wagner movie ^ (CBS' Shattered Dreams) and ignore another (ABC's Scruples, which finished 62nd)? And why did game four of the NBA finals outdraw games five and six? The biggest puzzle, however, is the huge success of the Tuesday drama Jack's Place, which has outstripped even ABC's expectations. Jack's second episode (June 9) finished 12th, and the series moved a giant step closer to being invited back next season. LAST VIEWERS* TOP TEN WEEK
