Any movie that rakes in $96.7 million in just 10 days is an unqualified blockbuster. Then again, despite the gargantuan expectations surrounding Batman Returns, there are signs that Tim Burton's sequel may fall short of the $200 million mark-which is to say, it may not become quite the out-of-the- galaxy megasmash some insiders predicted. The movie received a mere B from audiences polled by CinemaScore, and in its second weekend its take dropped by 47 percent. Unlawful Entry took a strong opening bow, also receiving a CinemaScore grade of B. The week's biggest surprise was the humdrum performance of Pinocchio-though distributors noted that this was the first Disney animation to be reissued after already having come out on video.
