To Dream, Perchance to Tour

Show's we'd love to see -- Madonna, Judas Priest, and Peter Gabriel are some of the acts we'd like to see on a theme tour together

Here's what Lollapalooza '92 is offering: lots of bands, lots of styles, a summit meeting of the various alternative-rock tribes. Isn't this just what pop music needs? Theme tours? Of course it does. And here are some of our favorite high concepts:

Sacrilege '92: Hammer, Nine Inch Nails, Jesus Jones, Kris Kross, Faith No More

Defenders of the Faith '92: Madonna, Judas Priest, Peter Gabriel, the Jesus and Mary Chain

Accidents Will Happen: The Cars, Drivin-N-Cryin, Asleep at the Wheel, R.E.M., Crash Test Dummies

Insects of Rock: Beatles, Adam Ant, The Roches, The Buggles, Black Flag

Have a Nice Day: Too Much Joy, Happy Mondays, XTC, Nirvana

Hive a Nice Day: A Taste of Honey, the B-52's, Sting, Band Aid

Yo! Onomatopoeia: Eek-A-Mouse, Wang Chung, Oingo Boingo, Wham!

Heart of Darkness: Tom Tom Club, Jungle Brothers, Kentucky HeadHunters, Wall of Voodoo, Fine Young Cannibals

The Red Tide: Tommy Roe, Hot Tuna, Fishbone, Johnny Gill, Sam and Dave (say it out loud)

The Tour That Planned Itself: Manhattan Transfer, Boston, Chicago, Alabama, Kansas, Texas Tornados

Who's On First? ABBA & Costello (as in Elvis)
