Details Lead Performance: Damn Yankees

Like the arrows Ted Nugent fires at animals when he's out lounging in his loincloth, his heat-seeking guitar solos are really weapons, not music. Currently lead Scud for Damn Yankees (the band he formed in 1990 with Styx's Tommy Shaw and Night Ranger's Jack Blades), Ted has never sounded as gleefully psychotic as he does here on the group's second album — and why not? The debut went platinum, and between Don't Tread's arena- ready depth charges and grunge grenades, Nugent and his meat-eating mates should stay knee-deep in sonic-felled carrion for some time to come.
