Rubin & Ed Crispin Glover, Howard Hesseman (1992, Columbia TriStar, $89.95, PG-13) In this road movie for slackers, a mismatched pair ventures into Death Valley to bury a cat, uttering homilies from a script that puts quote marks around its daftness. The closest thing to pleasures offered by this tiresome comedy are a great pickup line (''I want you to meet my mother'') and Crispin Glover drinking the sweat squeezed from his foam insole. D+
