GOING TO THE 'DOG'

Sixteen months ago, when Temple of the Dog first came out, only a few devotees of the Seattle scene noticed. This one-time-only get-together of rockers featured members of Soundgarden, a band with only modest success at the time, and a few others. Those ''few others'' have since evolved into Pearl Jam, now lodged at the No. 2 position, and Soundgarden's latest has gone gold. Not surprisingly, the recent rerelease of Temple of the Dog received a little more attention. And this week the album hops into the top 10. LAST POP ALBUMS WEEKS ON WEEK CHART
