THE MOOSEWOOD COOKBOOK

Details Writer: Mollie Katzen; Genre: Cooking/Home/Garden

THE MOOSEWOOD COOKBOOK (Revised) Mollie Katzen (Ten Speed Press, $16.95) The sun had set on the age of Aquarius in 1977 when a small Berkeley publisher brought out Mollie Katzen's handlettered recipes from Moose- wood, the collectively run vegetarian restaurant in Ithaca, N.Y. Fifteen years and a million and a half copies later, the restaurant is still a meatless mecca and $ the cookbook an alternative classic. For the leaner '90s Katzen has added some lighter dishes and cut down the first edition's prodigal amounts of butter, cheese, and eggs. The book remains an odd, unmodish mix-but by now a whole new generation calls it comfort food. B+ -SF
