The home-video horse race once again delivers a surprise, with three new titles hitting the rentals chart in an unexpected configuration. It's not shocking that hoopfest White Men Can't Jump shoots up to No. 5, but who would have thought the much-praised sleeper Fried Green Tomatoes would be left stewing at a poky No. 14 while Sean Connery's rain-forest dud, Medicine Man, beat it out at No. 10? The sales chart, meanwhile, gives evidence that the tape-buying audience is truly bifurcated (look it up): Don Bluth's kiddie cartoon Rock-a-Doodle debuts at No. 3, while Playboy's Wet & Wild IV splashes down at No. 9.
