Mort Janklow's specs -- Reading glasses are a must-have for the literary agent

For his eyes only: Top literary agent Mort Janklow managed to see his way through his first 32 years of life without reading glasses. But his eyestrain has grown with his business, especially since these days he reads about 1,500 pages a week. And now his specs are must-have tools of the trade. ''It is a tremendous amount of work,'' says Janklow, who represents Danielle Steel and Judith Krantz, among other page turners. ''An author takes five years to write a book, and if you haven't read it in a week, they call in a panic.'' Book or release, babe.
