Just when you think it's safe to like Paul Overstreet's music, the songwriter-turned-performer comes up with something so saccharine and simplistic that it nearly sends you into a diabetic coma. His strong, straight-ahead country songs on Love is Strong are offset by foot-patting bluegrass gospel and calls for universal love. And a little bit of Overstreet's syrupy earnestness goes a very long way. B-
