Gérard Depardieu delivers a typically robust and passionate performance as a bar keep suspected of harboring a Nazi collaborator in this bittersweet postwar drama about blurred allegiances and casual hypocrisy in a bombed-out French town. Director Claude Berri (Jean De Florette) tells the story with a picturesque elegance that neatly contrasts with the fairly dire subject matter of Uranus. B
