Keyboardist Thomas Dolby has finally kicked his dopey funk habit and put together his best album yet. Three tracks on Astronauts & Heretics sound as silky-smooth-gorgeous as Dolby's production work with cult faves Prefab Sprout, and the others feature tasteful guest spots by Eddie Van Halen, Jerry Garcia, and Bob Weir. He may have been blinded by science before, but this catchy little jewel shows Dolby has vision to spare. A-
