In this literally lowbrow laughfest, two teenage dorks (Sean Astin, Pauly Shore) find a living Cro-Magnon (Brendan Fraser) frozen in their own backyard. Deciding to keep the discovery to themselves, they teach him to act like them (it's not such a leap), then pass him off at school as a foreign exchange student. So guess who gets crowned king of the senior prom? Sure, there are comic possibilities in a culture clash of caveman with cafeteria society but unless your sense of humor is low on the evolutionary ladder, you're likely to be disappointed by this flick's primitive yuks. If it's a funny fish out of water you want, rent Big or even Back to the Future again. Keep Encino Man where he belongs: on ice. C-
