Vanessa Paradis (1992)

Details Lead Performance: Vanessa Paradis; Genre: Pop

The breathy, helium vocals of the teenage European pop starlet Vanessa Paradis neatly provide a foil for the vintage '60s sounds of producer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz. With lovingly accurate nods to Burt Bacharach, Motown, and even the Velvet Underground, Paradis comes off a lot like a postmodern Dusty Springfield. Vanessa Paradis is pleasant fluff, but with a piquant sense of déjà vu. B
