The Very Best...And Beyond captures the organization in all its hot-blooded studio glory. But the three new songs, with vocalist Lou Gramm back in the band, are anemic rehashes of Foreigner's old anthems. On ''Soul Doctor,'' it feels as if the band's really begging for a case of Geritol — if not a mercy killing. C+
