Lead Performance: Neil Diamond

Wait a second isn't Neil Diamond Jewish? But The Hanukkah Album probably wouldn't have included these petrified-wood versions of yuletide songs made famous by John Lennon and Cat Stevens nor another rendition of ''O Holy Night,'' which, thanks to its gothic backup choir on The Christmas Album, sounds more like the theme to one of those Omen movies. Perverse, but not always in the right ways. C
