Travis Tritt should have told his fans to keep the change. Instead, he up and created a Grammy-nominated hit, ''Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares).'' Now Tritt's fans toss coins at him. In February, one devotee in Bristol, Tenn., reached out and lobbed a 25-center smack dab onto Tritt's forehead, causing a sizable flow of blood. The show was halted soon after when Tritt ''started getting pretty dizzy.'' The country-rocker subsequently stopped performing the hit for a while, explaining that even though it's one of his most popular songs, ''I want to be around in one piece to sing all my others.'' But now it's back in the repertoire. Plus ça change, y'all.
