He did it his way: Given that most teenagers believe that any music other than rap or metal is something stupid, one man thought (in the wee small hours) of a novel way to fight the power. Bruce Janu, a 24-year-old Riverside, Ill., high school teacher, started playing Frank Sinatra records as punishment for the croon-deaf students in his detention hall. After enduring a full hour of tunes at the so-called Frank Sinatra Detention Club, one senior moaned, ''It just got to where I couldn't stand it.'' Ol' Blue Eyes buff Janu says that he has invited students to sing along. But so far, no one has. That's life.
