While the success of Pretty Woman might have more to do with Julia Roberts than Roy Orbison, the use of Orbison's song title has touched off a new trend: '50s and '60s rock & roll hits recycled as movie names. A slew of such films is set for release in the next few months. Among them are:
Only The Lonely (Twentieth Century Fox's comedy about a cop and a mortician, with John Candy and Maureen O'Hara) takes its name from Orbison's first No. 1 hit in 1960.
Love Potion No. 9 (a romantic comedy, also from Fox, with Tate Donovan and Sandra Bullock) is named for the 1959 Clovers song.
Book of Love (New Line Cinema's comic coming-of-age story, with Chris Young and Trisha Leigh Fisher) comes from the 1958 Monotones song.
Eve of Destruction (a futuristic thriller from Orion, starring Gregory Hines) uses the title of the 1965 Barry McGuire hit.
